Members of the steering committee for the 75TH anniversary celebration of the Diocese of Buea, have been charged with the responsibility to plan, coordinate and oversee the activities of all other committees put in place for the realization of a successful anniversary celebration come 2025. This was made clear by the Bishop of the Diocese of Buea His Lordship Michael Bibi during the first steering committee meeting held on Saturday September 1st 2023 at the Bishop’s House in small Soppo Buea.
Welcoming these 38 participants drawn from different works of life, the Bishop expressed gratitude to them for answering present at this very important session aimed at planning on the different activities and areas of intervention as far as the celebration of the 75th anniversary of the Diocese is concern.
He further called on the openness of all members as they contribute ideas in building a takeoff plan of action for this celebration which he considers a major milestone for the Diocese of Buea The close to three hours working session gave rise to the formation of 14 specific committees with their roles and responsibilities defined. These committees include Liturgy, History, Finance, Communication, Souvenirs, Entertainment, Logistics, Animation, Health, Security, Awards, Protocol/Invitation and the Pilot committee.
Members were then appointed into these different committees and urged to begin work immediately and present their plan of action before the next meeting scheduled for December 2nd 2023 .
While thanking all for their rich contributions, the Bishop called on members of the different committees to give in their best and advised them to co-opt other members from the Diocese to join them if need be in order to achieve the task ahead.
