The 8th Ordinary session of Education Council of the Diocese of Buea held on Wednesday August 7th, at the bishop’s conference room in Small Soppo Buea, ahead of the 2024/2025 school year. Chaired by the Vicar general on behalf of the bishop of Buea, Rev. Fr. Jude Mbi spelled out the objective of the meeting as one meant to review works, challenges and successes of the past year 2023/2024 and to prepare adequately for the new school year 2024/2025.
He congratulated the Education Secretary and His team of collaborators for the brilliant results recorded in the old year and encouraged them to multiply efforts for a more fruitful 2024/2025 school year.
Reporting on activities of the previous year, the Education Secretary Rev. Fr. Vincent Messue noted that the 27 nursery schools, 33 primary schools and 12 secondary schools which were operational, recorded no major incident and this he said is thanks to the teachers for their team spirit and sacrifices which paid off.
He equally highlighted some ongoing projects in schools including St. Pius the X Commercial and Technical College Limbe, CUIB Entrepreneurial High School among others, aimed at providing a conducive learning environment for the pupils and students in the new year.
According to members of the Education Council, the new school year is projected for more hard work, discipline and commitment of both teachers and students. They reiterated that the policies of the schools should be implemented to the later and that each child must return home after each term with a report of his or her financial standings.
As the 2024/25 school year approaches, members were informed of the reopening of some schools which were suspended including Our Lady of Mount Camel, Muea which will hence serve as both day and boarding with the boarding section meant for girls only, and the Our Lady of Grace School in Muyuka which also serves as a day and a boarding School .
