Rev. Fr. Martin Njie, has implored Christians to be bearers of the truth as he took on the 8th Commandment “You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor”, this Monday the 3rd of February 2025, during the weekly catechetical session, held in St Martin De Porres Parish in Bokwaongo. Representing His Lordship Michael Bibi, Bishop of Buea, the priests outlined that truth, which represents the facts , must be spoken at all times without fear of persons nor positions .

Christians drilled on the 8th commandment
He told Christians that falsehood is a sin and must be denounced even if it means dying for the truth. Educating faithful, he went ahead to invite them to emulate God who is truth and never to compromise the value of truth because of favors received or due to factors that may trigger falsehood.

Fr, Njie invites Christians to shun hypocrisy
The Christians were also made to understand that truth attracts hatred but nevertheless, it is what saves. The actions and words of a Christian must reflect the truth and in living the commandment, hypocrisy he noted must be eradicated by them.
False witnessing, character deformation, calumny, and incensing were all identified as ills against the 8th commandments and the Christians were encouraged to avoid these in living the Christian life.
The teaching was concluded with answers to questions posed by some of the Christians, to broaden their understanding of the word. As they dispersed, the priests prayed that all may live by the truth and put on the truth as their garment.
