Day Three of Priestly Retreat Focuses on Healing and Inner Renewal
On Tuesday, November 25th, 2025, priests of the Diocese of Buea entered the third day of their annual retreat, currently taking place at the Bishop Pius Awa Memorial Pastoral Centre, Buea.
The day’s reflection centered on the theme: “Hidden Wounds: Managing Childhood Roots of Emotional and Behavioral Patterns in Ministry.” This deeply introspective topic was explored under the guidance of the retreat director, Rev. Fr. Michael Mbuwir, and the Chief Shepherd of the Diocese, Bishop Michael Bibi.

The session provided a safe space for the clergy to reflect on the emotional baggage and formative experiences that may unconsciously influence their pastoral ministry. Fr. Mbuwir emphasized the importance of acknowledging personal wounds as a pathway to deeper healing, inner freedom, and more authentic service. Bishop Bibi echoed this call for inner renewal, reminding the priests that true transformation begins within and that the faithful look up to them not only as spiritual leaders but as living witnesses of Christ’s compassion.
The retreat also serves as a timely reminder of the sacred responsibility entrusted to priests and the unwavering support they receive from the Christian community. It was a moment of grace and recommitment, as the clergy continue to journey in faith, seeking to serve with integrity, empathy, and renewed purpose.

As the retreat progresses, it continues to foster personal growth, fraternity, and a deepened sense of vocation among the priests of the Diocese.
