The 5th National Forum of Catholic Communicators has gone underway in the Diocese of Batouri. The forum is holding under the theme “Artificial intelligence: opportunities and dangers in an all digital context’.
This Wednesday, October 23, 2024, Catholic communicators from across the country converged on the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception in Batouri for a thanksgiving mass, marking the start of the forum with the chief celebrant being Mgr Sosthène Léopold Bayemi, Bishop of Obala and president of the episcopal commission for communication.
This moment of intense prayer charted the course of a crucial day for these media professionals, who came to find guidance in serving the truth in a world where new technologies seem to be in competition with human intelligence.
In a powerful homily, Bishop Bayemi urged communicators, inviting them to be more vigilant in the face of the challenges of artificial intelligence in the field of information. “We must remain attentive messengers, intelligent Communicators because in this era where A.I. seems to dominate everything, it is our discernment, enlightened by faith, which will make the difference,” he emphasized. The prelate recalled that the mission of the Catholic communicator requires ardent faith and total commitment, so that nothing hinders the dissemination of the Good News.
After this solemn mass, the participants gathered for the opening ceremony attended by the Bishop of Batouri, Most Rev. Marcellin- Marie Ndabnyemb, Bishop Sosthene Bayemi and some civil and military authorities.
