The celebration included a meeting with Catholic journalists and communicators from the Diocese of Buea, serving as a platform for dialogue on the importance of accurate and responsible information dissemination.

In his welcome address, Bishop Bibi commended the dedication of journalists who work tirelessly to ensure objective and credible communication. He spoke on this year’s theme, “Share with gentleness the hope that is in your heart,” expressing concern over the harmful spread of hate, misinformation, and unverified content that fails to promote love, credibility, and peace-building. Highlighting the significant influence of Information and Communication in today’s age of artificial intelligence, the Bishop urged participants to harness these tools to spread hope and facilitate meaningful dialogue. He emphasized the media’s potential to foster understanding and solidarity rather than division.

The pope encouraged journalists to resist the allure of spreading fear and manipulation, which undermine the values of the Church and peaceful discourse.
