February 2nd, Feast of the Presentation of Jesus Christ, the Consecrated men and women of the Diocese of Buea joined the universal church to celebrate the 28th World Day of Consecrated Life. Processing with blessed and lighted candles which symbolizes the light of Christ the Saviour of the world, these Religious men and women are expected to spread this light to all who cross their paths.
During a Eucharistic celebration to mark this event, the Religious reaffirmed their vow to Christ and His Church and to their Superiors; to serve according to the rules of their institutes and its constitutions, imploring the grace of God to be able to fulfill their vocation.
The Chief custodian of the Diocese Bishop Michael Bibi officiating the mass to commemorate this day set aside to pray for Consecrated men and women, called on them to reflect on the vow of obedience which is an important vow as they render services to the church using their different gifts and charisms.
Dedicated to live a life of poverty, chastity, and obedience, the congregation was encouraged to pray for these religious who have answered to the call to serve the church through their different institutes of consecrated life.
The celebration of the world day of consecrated life also presented an opportunity for the Chief Shepherd Michael Bibi, to render thanks to the Religious who in exercising their talents and gifts, have contributed enormously to the growth of the Local Church.
As they chanted and danced with joy for the gift of consecrated life to the church, these consecrated men and women under the canopy of the Conference of Religious in the Bamenda Ecclesiastical Province CREPB, in a letter of encouragement to Bishop Michael Bibi, pronounced their unwavering support to the Bishop as he shepherds the flock entrusted to his care. They applauded him for the spiritual growth of the diocese, his managerial skills and high level of infrastructural development in the diocese. They equally pledged their loyalty and contribution to the Diocese, expressing the willingness to do more work.
The Eucharistic celebration took place at the Divine Mercy Co-cathedral in Molyko-Buea on the 2nd of January 2024
