Another set of entrepreneurs have been sent forth to impact the world with fine skills and morals learned from the Catholic University Institute of Buea. The 2024 Commencement Ceremony held at the Douala Campus this 11th day of December 2024, started with a Holy Mass presided over by Bishop Michael Bibi, Chancellor and Proprietor of CUIB, in thanksgiving to God for successes recorded by the students and staff of CUIB, Douala.
During the commencement Mass, the Chancellor exalted graduates to reflect on their journey in CUIB and to be conscious ambassadors of CUIB, serving in professionalism and humility. He urged graduates to carry with them a grateful heart towards their parents and teachers and to always stay close to God in prayers.
Following the Thanksgiving Mass was the academic ceremony for the award of certificates opened by an academic procession.
Celebrating the success of these profound students, the president of CUIB, Rev. Fr. Bartholomew Anyanwu congratulated them for burning the candles and making it right . He advised them to be subtle to change and to be open to challenges as they embrace the opportunities that will avail to them.
A major highlight of the occasion was the academic discourse presented by the CEO and Managing Director of Zenithe Insurance, Fon Ndecham Chefon on the theme “The future of work and entrepreneurship; position yourself for the next decade.” He told graduates, “There are no jobs! The environment will disappoint you, but have faith as you decide what you want to become.”
These words that reflect the realities of today’s job market, where echoed by the keynote speaker who, however, encouraged the graduates to make use of any opportunity they find as they begin this new journey. He emphasized that graduates must uphold moral rectitude and service to humanity as practices that would take them forward.
These first class graduates with a GPA of 3.60 and above, were saluted for their brilliant performance. Still at the commencement ceremony, graduates were recognized for standing out of the masses and they were conferred including the Chancellor’s prize awarded to the best student, president’s award, and other prizes in recognition of their great works.
It is worthy to note that Graduates from CUIB span from different Schools of CUIB, including Agriculture, Business, Engineering, and Information Technology.
